A wonderful small campsite almost like wild camping but with fantastic washing facilities etc. It is a 10/10 from me but doesn't have entertainment , a bar or sports facilities so won't show as 10/10. We chose sites especially not to have lots going on. The camping is in an olive grove surrounded by a low dry stone wall. All very pretty. Gary, the British owner lives on site and has lots of information about the area. He has compiled several walks and cycle rides to do from the site and places to visit. The village is a short walk or bike ride away and has all you need with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
The small wash block is superb. Spotlessly clean. Hot water to all sinks, good quality rain showers, toilet paper, soap and towels all provided. Washing up sinks have hot water and detergent if you forget yours. Electricity to the pitch is a good 10A.
The pool wasn't open but looked a sunny area to relax for a day. Wifi is free and we picked it up on our pitch which was a bonus.
We only had two nights here but you need at least four so you can visit Marvao a stunning hilltop village visible from the site, Castillo de Vide another hilltop town nearby, a day doing the walks, a day into Spain and a day relaxing. Actually this needs more than four nights.
This is a beautiful part of Portugal and the site is a perfect relaxing spot from which to explore it with a lovely owner on hand for all the information you need. We will be returning soon.
