Although we only planned to stay here for 2 nights, we ended up staying a week as we liked the site so much. The staff were very helpful and friendly and all the facilities were open and very good. There are incredible marked walks all around the site, with such beautiful views. There are 2 restaurants in the village, with fantastic menus of the day, as well as 2 very reasonably priced supermarkets (friendly too, even gave us free cake!)
We will certainly return here, in fact I cant wait!
Great campsite in many ways, only stayed 5 days, with the power supply at 6 amps, I spent many times switching the electric back on, got fed up with that, and left
Campsite is on the edge of a small village which has a couple of bakers, a small supermarket, and a couple of restaurants. The site is terraced which gives you good views over the area from your pitch. The pitches are good sized and flat. You may need a long electric cable for some pitches. Shower and other facilities are fine. Staff who work in both the bar and reception are very friendly and provide good information about the excellent range of walks from the site. Although the site is in the hills, we found it warm enough to sit outside throughout the day, even in late October.
Visited early October, after one of the scariest drives of my life on the road recommended for caravans! One gentleman with limited English was trying to run the bar and reception. Polite but welcoming no! Couldn't get a smile out of any of the few local patrons on the site. In fact felt positively unwanted and as though had stumbled into a low budget horror movie. Facilities are basic, think communal changing room with 2 shower stalls and a toilet. Village is reduced to one bar / restaurant which presents an English menu unasked, plenty of meat and well cooked but not cheap. Village appears to be dying and we left early the next morning as we couldn't wait to get away. You need a very good reason to visit this campsite and I can't think of one.
We have a big dog and this place is fantastic for walks in the hills and mountains just steps from the campsite. Great pitches and very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely and quiet during the week.
Only small drawback is that at the weekends, when the site gets busier at this time of the year, there is a slight lack of showers and toilets.
Loved it here. Great spot near a lovely village that had restaurants and shops. Lovely road cycling, steep climbs! Plenty of good walks. One to return to.
What a fantastic Welcome we received on arriving. The receptionist Angela was so pleasant we would return again just for her kindness. Everything was explained in detail in English, and we chose our pitch which had great views of the village and mountains. The next morning we bought fresh bread directly from the bakery in the village, some for breakfast and the remainder for our picnic lunch we would eat on our first walk. Marked trails leave the campsite entrance in all directions, we selected the Barranco route which follows an easy way into Sierra Espuna. On return to the camping we sat in the terrace next to the outdoor pool area and drank a well deserved beer, followed by another. After enjoying our hot shower we returned to our motorhome and sat watching the light fade as the sun retired for the day. A quiet night followed and we caught up with emails on the free WiFi the site provides. Without doubt we will return, and next time a longer stay will be our aim.
A very nice site for Motorhomes while visiting the surrounding area of natural beauty. All the areas have hard standing so well suited for winter visits(and discounts)
This is a little "Heaven on earth". You know you are coming to somewhere special when negotiating the 24 hairpin bends up the mountain to get there. But don't let that put you off. I can guarantee that however long you intend to stay you will finish up staying longer. The site is set out in terraces built on the hillside overlooking the small and pretty village of El Berro with beautiful views from your pitch, very friendly English speaking staff and bar plus lovely restaurants and shops in the village. Superb walking and touring country.
In the description of the campsite, it states that you will not want to leave. We arrived at the site intending to stay for 2 nights, 11 nights later we dragged ourselves away! The staff are fantastic, the location is superb! Yes the pitches are a bit small, there are a couple of maintainence issues, but hey who cares! Visit this place and you will not want to leave, you have been warned!
